Run of the Tartans

Put on your kilt and grab your pipes and get ready to run for a great cause!
November 10, 2012, First Presbyterian Church Waycross is hosting our 1st Annual

“Run of the Tartans”.

This will be a fun morning for all ages.  Race day registration will be at 7:30am.
Our 1 Mile Fun Run will start @ 8:00am and the 5k Run/Walk will start @ 8:30am.
Awards will be given to overall winners and age groups winners.
All proceeds will benefit our local Okefenokee Humane Society.

We hope that everyone will come out and support this fun event.  What a great way to show our furry friends that our community is working hard to help them find their  “furr-ever” homes!

Recently, the Friends of the Okefenokee Humane Society (FoOHS) became a Gold level sponsor for the First Presbyterian Church of Waycross’s Run of the Tartans 5k run/walk and one mile fun run that will be held November 10th. Reverend Trip McKinnon and his church, First Presbyterian Church of Waycross, saw the need of the animals in our community so all monies raised by the race will be donated to the Okefenokee Humane Society and the many great things OHS is doing. By holding an event like this, First Presbyterian guarantees that animals in need will get the care they deserve. Headed up by Marcia Craven, First Presbyterian’s Program Director, the Run of the Tartans 5k will be held November 10th with registration starting at 7:30 am, one mile fun run at 8 am and the 5k starting at 8:30 am. All activities will be held at First Presbyterian which is located at the corner of Ava and Hill streets. Pre-registration is $20 for the 5k and $10 for the one mile. Awards will be given to the top male and female overall in both the 5k and one mile along with other awards. T-shirts will be guaranteed for all pre-registered participants and as available on race day. Pre-registration ends 10/26/2012. For more information contact Marcia Craven at 912-283-5077 or

Participants of the Run of the Tartans are also invited to a complimentary lunch at Dr. and Sandy Kubik’s house after the Friends of the Okefenokee Humane Society 2nd Annual Motorcycle Benefit Ride. All proceeds raised from the motorcycle benefit ride will also go to the Okefenokee Humane Society and their goal of building more kennels and a medical suite. For more information on the motorcycle benefit ride and a chance to win $10,000, contact Sandy Kubik at 912-550-9081 or
